The competition helps to position graffiti as an artistic expression of interest to the general population, helping to improve their quality of life by enhancing the environment.

Historical

Historical

In 2011, a graffiti competition was launched, co-financed by the Puçol City Council and Iberdrola. The company offered its transformer substations (TS) as canvases for the competition's artistic interventions.

The initiative aimed to prevent vandalism, which necessitates costly and constant maintenance, based on the graffiti artists' code of respect for other artists' work, thus maintaining the TS in a good light.

This approach presented a fantastic opportunity to organize an engaging cultural and artistic activity for young people.

In short, over the past five years, the graffiti competition has become a firmly established cultural event in the town, where a group of young people selflessly dedicate their time to improving their surroundings and developing an artistic side they might not otherwise have the opportunity to explore.

These approaches —together with the inevitable periodic intervention on the CT works, exposed to the effects of the weather— make the Puçol Open Air Museum a space in continuous transformation and with enormous possibilities to continue growing year after year.
